From the pictures on their web site, we expected a larger building than the one we saw as we drove up. But once I got inside, I was impressed with the small, "homey" feel. The front desk attendant was friendly and quick to check us in. There were chocolate chip cookies available to the guests in the front lobby.
This Anniversary Inn has 14 theme decorated suites. We stayed in the Secret Garden Suite, which was the only suite available when I made our reservation. I expected a room full of ugly pink flowers, but was happily surprised to find the room tastefully decorated.

When we arrived, we heard romantic music playing on the radio; The stereo has surround sound speakers hooked up in the corners of the bedroom. The queen size bed had soft, warm sheets and there was a TV with a DVD player located in the perfect place to watch TV in bed. Bring your favorite movie so you can snuggle with that special someone while you watch! (One of our movie suggestions is “Somewhere In Time” with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour.)
There was also a mini refrigerator in the closet with two big slices of cheesecake waiting for us. Located in the back of the suite was a big jetted tub, with room for two, and a bottle of apple cider chilling in the ice bucket.

In the morning we received a tray of food for breakfast in bed. The Anniversary Inn front desk attendant asked us to select two drinks each when we checked in—I had hot cocoa and orange juice. Then they served a scrumptious ham and cheese croissant, yogurt with granola on the bottom, and a cinnamon roll.
We went to The Roof restaurant for dinner the night we checked in and visited Temple Square the next day. For lunch we went to Benihanna restaurant for Japanese cuisine.
My only complaint would be that our room was really chilly. There aren’t individual heating units in each room (typically found in hotel rooms), so I had to call the front desk and request that they turn up the heat. They also brought us a small space heater to put on the floor.
I would definitely stay at an Anniversary Inn again. I noticed that the 5th South SLC location has 36 different suites, which means more themed rooms to choose from. The Mysteries of Egypt Suite sounds pretty interesting... Maybe we’ll have to try that one next time!
Big cost break secret! We purchase vouchers at Costco and save lots of moola.
