Visit Lake Powell via Page Arizona
Lake Powell is easily
accessible from Page Arizona

Lake Powell has been a favorite
Summer vacation spot for my family for
years. I can still remember the first trip we took there when I was about
14 years old. We rented a ski boat and ended up staying a few days longer
than expected because we absolutely loved it! We have now purchased a boat
and return to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area ever year.
Our favorite town to stay in while visiting Lake Powell is Page, Arizona, which borders the
edge of Utah. Page is a small town in Northern Arizona, located on the
southern shores of this magnificent reservoir. Their friendly community
offers visitors outstanding recreation and a wide variety of lodging and
services.
The city's location is ideal for exploring many of the American
Southwest's renowned national parks and monuments (Northern Rim of the Grand
Canyon, Chinley National Monument), and discovering the unique culture of the
Navajo Nation.
Page is the largest community close to Lake Powell. Within 5-10 minutes
you can leave your hotel and arrive at the dock at Wahweap Marina, which is the
largest marina site on the lake. To get to the marina the road crosses
of the Glen Canyon Dam, and you can't help but slow down as you pass by to look
over the edge.
Many tourists vacation in Page to check out the
visitor's center which is located right off the dam. Another 5-10 minutes
and you can launch your boat, and head out on the lake.
Wahweap
has a swimming beach (but no lifeguards). Boaters can find their own remote
spots along the vast shoreline.
At the end of the
boating day, we take our boat out of the lake, park it at the hotel, shower and head out for
dinner. We have tried camping along the lake a number of times, and have
found that staying in a hotel, launching, and re-launching our boat each day is
the best, and most comfortable way to stay at Lake Powell. The sandy beach
makes camping a hassle, and the hotels are a nice, air conditioned refuge.
Plus, most of the hotels have extra room for parking and storing boats
overnight.
You may also pay to rent a stall and keep your boat on the lake
overnight, but we have found it quite convenient and safer to bring our boat
with us and store it at the hotel.
We try to get launched on the lake by 8 A.M. to avoid the lines of cars
waiting to launch their boat at the dock.
My family brings about 3 coolers
filled with food and treats to give us energy for the entire day, because we
spend most of the day at the lake. We also bring two five gallon coolers
filled with ice and water. Be sure to have enough ice to last in your
coolers for the entire day. Generally, we buy 4-5 ice blocks / sacks to
keep everything cool.
Also, be sure to wear sunscreen!! It needs to
be applied every 2-3 hours, especially if you are getting in and out of the
water, which can take off the previously applied sunscreen. We spend most
of the day on the lake, enjoying the sights, and recreation, and leave by 5 or 6
P.M.
Page has some of the most wonderful restaurants I've ever been to.
The Italian restaurant called
Strombolli's (located a few blocks from the Best Western that we always stay at) has delicious pizza, pasta, and salads. There are
also many Steak
and Seafood restaurants, all of which are very tasty.
Suggestions:

Strombolli's Italian Restaurant is located at
711 N Navajo Dr, Page, AZ 86040, Tel: 928-645-2605.
