Sundance Steak Restaurant

Redford's Sundance Steak Restaurant is called the Foundry Grill...
Best Steak in the region!

Redford's Sundance steak restaurantFoundry Grillserves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  The atmosphere feels rustic, like the old west.  The flooring is made out of old wood planks and our servers wore western attire.

This is my type of food!  When we read the menu, we actually knew what we were getting (whereas at The Tree Room, we loved the experience, but the food was not as familiar to us).  At the Foundry Grill, you may select from steaks, trout, chicken, hamburgers, pasta and you will get enough to satisfy your appetite before or after your outdoor adventures of the day.

One thing about the restaurant had caught my eye on a previous visit.  We visited Sundance a few months before and purchased a sandwich and a bowl of fruit at the Cafe just outside the entry to the Foundry Grill.  It's the Wild Horses painting (seen in the background of the photograph below).

Robert Redford commissioned Richard Murray to paint a mural on the far wall of the restaurant that you will see as you enter.  When it was originally finished Mr. Redford asked for some changes.  He thought there was too much detail and he wanted to feel and see the movement of the wild horses running.  It is one of my favorites...  As far as I know, a print of it is not being sold at this time, but here is a similar one by the artist.

Breakfast.  We got a reservation for 8:30am and the Grill was pretty empty... but by 9:00am the crowds started coming.  Most people were already in their ski attire, ready to hit the slops.  Because it was Saturday, there was a breakfast buffet of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, oatmeal, fresh fruit, pastries and cold cereal.  We decided to order from the menu, but it was difficult because there were so many yummy choices.  My husband and I both ordered omelets.  I got the vegetarian omelet with egg whites, mushrooms, spinach, carrots, onions, and zucchini, with fresh fruit on the side.  I also ordered a side of wheat toast that came with a tangy orange marmalade.

Dinner.  We ordered salads (Bleu cheese and Caesar's).  The bread was scrumptious.  Our entrees were brought about the time we finished our salads.  We both ordered the filet mignon which was excellent and we highly recommend.  (We recently went to another steakhouse and ordered the same thing and were extremely disappointed, so this was a pleasant change.)   Our entrees also included garlic mashed potatoes, steamed baby carrots and snap peas.

Sunday Brunch.  Sunday morning we were treated to an award-winning buffet at the Sundance steak restaurant and it included prime rib, shrimp, steak, ham, turkey, sausage, eggs, bacon, pastries, pancakes, french toast, fruit and cereals.  After that one, there was no "wanting for more," our appetites were completely satisfied!
