I learned to ski on the slopes of Sundance Resort (owned by Robert Redford). And, we went on day hikes to Stewart Falls, Cascade Springs, Timpanogos Cave, and to the summit of Mount Timpanogos. The photographs above and below shows Sundance ski slopes and Sundance mountain homes hidden between the tall, evergreen trees.

Romantic Hike to Stewart Falls from Sundance
Later, I introduced the love of my life (who
grew up in Southern California) to the region soon after we met. It was
our second date and I was hoping to impress, so I even made a picnic lunch.
I told her to bring a swimming suit & towel, but didn't tell her where we were
going. She loves surprises...
As was typical in those days, my car ran out of gas on the way, but luckily we made it to the parking lot at Sundance. So, I called my mom to see if she would meet us up there... "and by the way, could you bring a gallon of gas?"
It all turned out to be a memorable adventure. We hiked to Stewart Falls from Sundance Resort in the Summer heat. We cooled off and got a water-massage while standing under the waterfall. And, if you are romantically attached, sneaking a kiss as you stand behind the falls is highly recommended!
Sundance Vacation Home
We've returned many times to visit this
mountain resort area. As we've become more effluent we discovered the
ultimate family vacation or romantic getaway...
Stay for more than just a day trip by renting a mountain home or cottage.
Not only are these mountain getaways within walking distance of Sundance Resort, but if you walk in the opposite direction you might as well be in the Canadian Rockies. You'll feel so secluded... like you're nowhere close to civilization.

The photograph above shows some of the vacation homes in and above the morning shadows.
We have considered buying a home here but they are quite expensive. So for now we rent one from the owners, but we think of it as our very own Sundance mountain home. The back side of the home looks down into a ravine with some of the tallest pine trees I have seen. There is a creek at the bottom that runs year round.
This Sundance vacation home is spacious with over 3000 square feet of living space and plenty of room to sleep eight adults. The great room has a big screen HDTV with satellite television stations; there is also plenty of room for playing cards or board games. On the back side of this mountain getaway there is a large balcony for barbecues and taking in the fresh air in this alpine forest as you listen to the water flowing down the creek.
It really has a luxury cabin feel... with granite countertops and fine woodwork. There is also a two car garage to keep your cars out of the weather.
Year-Round Activities in the Vicinity
This getaway is not just a Winter-time vacation
spot, because the other seasons open up a vast amount of outdoor activities that
are only available when it is warmer.
As you may have heard, downhill skiing or snowboarding at Sundance Resort is outstanding (it has been rated as one of the best small ski resorts in the USA). Other Winter activities in the vicinity include snowmobiling, snow shoeing, and cross-country skiing.

Another family favorite is sledding or tubing at nearby Soldier Summit (home of the cross-country venue of the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics).
Spring, Summer and Fall offer other outdoor adventures. There are hikes for all levels and natural scenic beauty that just never quits. It is also a great place for mountain biking, fly fishing, jet skiing and water skiing.
This vacation rental can also be used as your luxury base-camp for activities and events in Provo, Heber Valley, Salt Lake City and Park City. Or, even adventures to Utah's National Parks.
